Murcar Links near Aberdeen
Archie Simpson laid out Murcar in 1909 on wonderful links land just a few miles north of Aberdeen.Master course architect James Braid is known to have made a number of alterations to the Simpsons' layout in the early 30s but records are sketchy as to what refinements he actually made. Whatever they were between them Simpson and Braid have both left a wonderful heritage of classic links golf which television commentator Peter Alliss famously described as a course not entirely suitable for beginners with rolling fairways, streams and the occasional blind shot to contend with. One thing you can guarantee about your day at Murcar is a warm welcome, a course in superb condition and amazing views of the North Sea.
